Daily Bible Message

This blog is a daily dose of thoughts from God's word. We read the scriptures to build our faith, hope, and love. This blog is intended to aid us in that quest by allowing us a forum for comments and questions about these daily messages.

Jeremiah 6 - A word to Jerusalem

Wickedness abounded in Jerusalem. People "from the least of them even to the greatest of them" (Jeremiah 6:13) walked the same path of greed. Even the prophet and the priest dealt falsely. They went around saying, "Peace, peace," but there was no peace in the land. They were hypocrites. Their speech was good, but their actions showed who they really were. How often do we cry "Peace" when we are not pursuing peace? We say, we must work together in unity, but then we don't work towards that end. Maybe we even contribute to the disunity and chaos while calling our brethren to be at peace with one another. That won't work!

God called these folks back to "the ancient paths, where the good way is" (Jeremiah 6:16). Let's return to His word. Let's get back on track. God paved a road for His people a couple thousand years ago - I'd call that an ancient path. The problem is, a lot of people don't believe that path is RELEVANT any more. How can a 2000-year-old path still be good? How about an infinite God Who lives outside of time (which He created, by the way)? Do you think perhaps He has the foreknowledge and wisdom to give men an everlasting law, forever for man's good? Those are the ancient paths we should be walking. God doesn't change, and His requirements for mankind don't change!
