Daily Bible Message

This blog is a daily dose of thoughts from God's word. We read the scriptures to build our faith, hope, and love. This blog is intended to aid us in that quest by allowing us a forum for comments and questions about these daily messages.

I Want A Miracle

It's just not fair that we don't have miracles today. If I could just see a miracle, THEN I would have strong faith! All those people during the time of Jesus had it easy, didn't they? They got to SEE the power of God with their own two eyes. I mean, who WOULDN'T believe after seeing Jesus raise someone from the dead?

Well...

In John 11:43-46 we read of the resurrection of Lazarus.

43 When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth."
44 The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus *said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
45 Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him.
46 But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.

Here is an account of people who actually saw a resurrection with their own eye-balls. True, many of them did believe. But some did not. Some ran off to tattle on Jesus to the Pharisees. "Jesus is back in town, and He's stirring up trouble again! He's got people believing He can raise people from the dead."

To me, it's amazing these people did not believe after seeing His power for themselves. Again, in John 12:37 we read, "But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him." Evidence piled upon evidence - and still they could not put their faith in Him.

What about today? Many people would still not believe if they saw a sign from heaven. Jesus did perform those signs to produce faith that He is the Son of God. But many still did not accept Him. Today, we have the historical accounts of His miracles. And Jesus said in John 20:29, "Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." We have not seen, and yet we believe after reading these accounts of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Many think we are completely foolish. Let not our hearts be troubled with these nay-sayers, for God will judge in the last day!

God bless,
Nathan
