Even though the destruction on these nations would be horrific, there is some comfort in God's warning.  The fact that He took the time and made the effort to give these nations a "heads-up" shows His care for the nations.  In a way, this was an opportunity for individuals to repent.  God had already decided on the fate of the nations, but perhaps there were a few who would trust Him and turn from their iniquity.

God also made sure there was a remnant left of His people, the Jews.  Jeremiah 46:28 says:

"O Jacob My servant, do not fear," declares the LORD, "For I am with you.  For I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you, yet I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you properly and by no means leave you unpunished."

God has extended His warnings now to all nations through Jesus Christ, His Son.  No man or woman on this earth can claim he / she has not been warned.  God's expectations for man today are clear.  "Like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, 'You shall be holy, for I am holy,'" (1 Peter 1:15, 16).  That's the directive to all men.  "But the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death" (Revelation 21:8).  That's the warning to all men.

Consider yourself warned.
